Regional meeting for the FOOD Festival in Occitania!

CNEAP Occitania inter-institutional training at the Ecole Supérieure

This day organized by David Baratgin & Yves Carmichael, EADR-SI Regional Correspondents, with the support of Frédéric Faye, Regional Delegate of CNEAP, brought together participants from 10 establishments (Capestang, Céret, Lasbordes, Lézignan, Limoux, Masseube, Pézenas, Pézens, Rieumes, St Amans-Soult), and 6 associations of Education for Development and International Solidarity (Lafibala, CCFD-TS, CROSI, CIDES, Artisans du Monde, Ressources Humaines Sans Frontières).
Its first vocation was to prepare the educational and pedagogical teams for the 10th Food and Agriculture Film Festival, a major event on the challenges of food and agriculture in the world, organized in France and in 12 countries from October 15 to November 30, 2017. This festival is coordinated by the French Committee for International Solidarity (CFSI) through screenings and debates attracting more than 60,000 spectators each year. Its ambition is to inform the public, defend certain agricultural models and the right to food, raise awareness on the fight against hunger which affects 750 million people, but also to take initiatives and seek solutions to remedy this situation. Thus, the participation in the Festival AlimenTerre 2017 has been proposed to the establishments of the CNEAP Occitania within the framework of the regional project EADR-SI for the current year.
At the beginning of the day, Caroline Saumade from the Lafibala association presented the festival and the 8 films on show, i.e. 2 feature films (Bientôt dans vos assiettes, Bugs), 4 medium-length films (Land Grabbing, Cousin comme cochon, Hold up sur la banane, Vivre dignement de sa terre) and 2 short films (Nourrir une métropole, Consommer responsable, quelles solutions ?), but also a mini film (Les champs du possible), winner of the 2017 “Concours Jeunes” (Youth Competition) organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. She then recalled the conditions of participation and distribution of the films in schools or outside, before presenting possible avenues for educational use (speaker profiles, animations, etc.). Her remarks were relayed by speakers from other associations such as the CCFD-TS, testifying to the experiments carried out with establishments within the framework of the AlimenTerre Festival.
The beginning of the afternoon was organized in the form of a forum that allowed representatives of CNEAP Occitanie’s establishments to learn about the tools and resources available to carry out pedagogical actions during the festival. The members of the associations present made their tools available (games, animations…) by describing the approach to adopt with high school students, thus completing the resources presented by the EADRSI regional correspondents.
The last part of the day first gave the representatives of the schools the opportunity to briefly present their international cooperation actions, which made it possible to visualize the experiences in this field at the regional level. Then, the regional correspondents recalled that the EADRSI regional project also aimed to continue the actions carried out within the framework of the theme “Migrants from here and elsewhere”. They invited the participants to describe their experiences and to present what they planned to achieve in the current year, before a regional meeting scheduled for spring 2018.
